Philanthropic Mission: To enrich education in Armenia by providing support to teachers and students to create a better educational opportunities.
Philanthropic Summary

Since the independence of Armenia in 1991, OCAPS has donated nearly $85,000 to two schools in Yerevan: Mushegh Ishkhan School and Kindergarten #19.  Considering the difficult economic conditions that Armenia has endured in recent years, which have caused a sever shortage of educational funding, this assistance has made a significant difference in the lives of the teachers and students.  Annually, our board members personally hand deliver supplemental income to the teachers.  Additionally, we send school supplies and other urgently needed items for the students.

With your contributions OCAPS will continue to provide much needed support to teachers, students, and schools in Armenia.  Together we can make a difference!

Accomplishments

Thanks to generous donations, OCAPS has been able to:

  • Support Mushegh Ishkhan and Kindergarten #19 schools in Yerevan, Armenia by providing the teachers and staff much needed annual subsidy, which is hand delivered by long-standing members to the individual teachers and staff.
  • Sent school supply packages annually for the classroom activities. These packages include art supplies, crayons, construction paper, markers, pencils, erasers and other items that are difficult or expensive to attain.
  • Replaced an old stove that was no longer repairable with a newer stove that was urgently needed to prepare meals for the school children.
  • Purchased a new refrigerator to replace the old dilapidated refrigeration unit in the school kitchen used to keep perishable foods for the children.
  • Purchased blankets to provide warmth in the severe cold winter months for the children taking naps in poorly heated school building.

We are proud of the positive impact of our contributions in the lives of over 150 school teachers and staff along with hundreds of students.  For some details review the Philanthropic Efforts section in our past Newsletters which describe efforts in detail, along with pictures and appreciation letters from the schools.
